How to calculate your usage

Using my router, I was able to calculate my usage on the internet for a 24 hour period. This allows you to estimate your total usage. You can also calculate it for a week or a few days, so you can figure your average usage over time.

A trip through the company books.....

I thought to myself - maybe Time Warner's telling the truth - they ARE about to be consumed by the huge cost of internet bandwidth. The sky IS falling. So let's look at their corporate filing (nice and hot off the presses from Feb 2009) and take their projected costs and revenues from internet traffic and see where they go. I got a big surprise. Far from the doom and gloom and tales of woe that Mr. Hobb's gave us the 10-K was actually quite rosy when it came to internet bandwidth.

They just don't get it....

Our representative from Time Warner Cable (TWC) recently "clarified" his original statement (after the "****storm of bad press he got no doubt". I analyze it here statement by statement. Get all the goods, or read it for yourself at: http://a.longreply.com/109511 . The basic summary - they just don't get it.

"A Time Warner representative called my article disrepectful. Though I retract none of what I said, I have edited the document to be more respectful of Mr. Hobbs. I'm soing so DESPITE the fact that Mr. Hobbs and his staff has disrepected this community and me personally by not answering any of the questions raised in these and other blogs, and the fact that I have asked these questions on multiple venues without getting any response from Time Warner. I also am editing it despite the fact that at least one Time Warner representative called me on the phone and asked me to "Stop twittering to him" about the issues (this came after a long day of asking questions, none of which the representative had an answer for). I do not intend to allow this issue to go to rest. But heaven forbid I hurt anyone's feelings. So edited post below."

Broadband internet bandwidth costs are getting more expensive right?

That's what Time Warner says, but a global study shows that to not be true - bandwidth is actually 40% cheaper than it was last year, and Time Warner's subscribers have grown by only 8% according to their own annual report.
