According to Om Malik of GigaOM blog "The Australian government said today it will spend up to A$43 billion ($30.67 billion) to help set up a national broadband network."

Om goes on to state that, just like building highways and bridges, building a competitive national network infrastructure that is available to all residents at reasonable prices, is a key competitive advantage.  So how does this apply to Time Warner's new policies?  Well not only are we not at and advantage any more over other cities, and other countries, but we are at a significant disadvantage, as young, internet raised men and women will move away towards areas with a better technological infrastructure - it won't be the only item to cause people to move, but it will be a factor.
